When You Read This was EXACTLY the kind of book I needed it to be this weekend. Told in emails, blog posts, notes from a therapist and text messages, this book takes place in the months after a young woman named Iris dies of lung cancer. ⠀
Iris had kept a blog and hoped that her former boss, Smith, would get it published after her passing. Smith is encountering some problems of his own in the wake of his friend and colleague’s death, one of which is Iris’ sister Jade. Both Jade and Smith are seeing a posthumous version of the Iris they thought they knew. The things they learn in the process— both about themselves and about Iris— make this book seem deeper and sweeter than I expected when I picked this up. ⠀
I loved this because it seemed very authentic and real. This would be a perfect spring getaway read or something to read on a flight. It’s definitely for one sitting!
